PO Box 390, Edenton, NC 27932.
Payment must be included.
- Make checks payable to:

- Make sure to sign and date
the Waiver of Liability on application.

Fest will send you a confirmation

The Hog Fest in Historic Edenton will occur rain or
shine.
Local Accommodations, Dining
& Other Information
The Chowan County Visitor Bureau can provide you with
local accommodations and other local information.

Check-In
Check-in is Friday from 9:00am to
3:30pm. It
is located at the entrance to the competition area.
A registration packet with contest information, cooking
space number, map, schedule of events and giveaways will
be provided. Early arrivals will receive packet
on Friday.
Cooking Spaces / Extended Stay
There are well defined spaces located on grass. The
spaces will be pre-assigned prior to teams arriving.
Teams can arrive as
early as Wednesday and stay as late as Sunday in their
assigned competition space.
Electricity/Water
Electricity and water provided with space. One 20
amp electrical connection per space. You must
provide extension cord for electricity and hose for
water. You may need up to 150 feet of extension cord and as
much as 100 feet of water hose.
Vehicle Parking
Only one truck pulling camper/trailer or one vehicle may
be parked in your space in competition area.
Everything must fit in your space. All
vehicles must park across from the competition area due
to safety reasons. Up to two vehicles will receive reserved
parking passes. It is extremely close within
walking distance. Free parking is available
throughout festival. Any vehicle parked in the
competition area will not be able to come and go
throughout competition. You must be parked in
reserved parking to be free to come and go as needed.
Cooking Fuel
This contest is limited to charcoal, wood, or
pellets for your fuel source. No gas cookers will be
allowed. If cooker has provision for gas, it must be
disconnected. Gas can be used to start the coals only.
Delivery of pigs & pick up of meat
Teams will be provided a pig weighing 100 - 125 lbs
by the organizer and the delivery will be determined at
the Cooks' Meeting. After the turn-in for Blind Box
judging the teams must chop up the remaining meat and
put in pans provided. The organizer will pick up the
meat at 12:00 noon. The teams will provide all other
supplies.
Cooks’ Meeting
The cooks’ meeting is mandatory and will be held
Friday at 4:00pm in the Judging Room.
Whole
Hog Blind Box Judging
You will place your meat for the blind Box in
Styrofoam containers provided. The box must be turned in
at the turn-in table at 11:30am with the number on the
box on top. There is a 10 minute window with 5 minutes
before and 5 minutes after. The Blind Box will be judged
using KCBS judges and scoring.
Sanitation
Containers for grease
disposal will be available. Containers for ashes
will be available for dumping hot ashes. Please
dump hot coals only in the marked receptacles.
Please put your trash out in front of your site and we
will be by and pick it up. Please try to keep the bags
tied up and light. Drip pans must be used to catch
grease draining from cookers.
2012 RULES &
REGULATIONS
Hog Fest
in Historic Edenton
will be governed by the competition rules of the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS). KCBS rules and regulations can be obtained by going to
www.kcbs.us.
The following rules and regulations also apply to the
competition.
- All contestants are
responsible for reading and following the KCBS rules and regulations.
- All contestants are
responsible for reading and following the Hog Fest
in Historic Edenton contest information, listed
previously.
- All contestants must adhere
to all electrical, fire, and other codes (city,
county, state, or federal codes).
- Each team should have a
fire extinguisher.
- Alcoholic beverages are not
to be distributed (given away or sold) to the
general public by contestants. Any alcoholic
beverages being consumed by contestants must be in
unrecognizable containers. (cups, etc.)
- Food or any other items are
not to be distributed (given away or sold) to the
general public by contestants unless they have
applied as a vendor.
- All teams are requested to
respect the rights of other teams with special
emphasis on loud music, language, or infringement of
adjoining site with equipment, etc. The Chief Cook
will be responsible for the conduct of his/her team
and guests.
- If a Chief Cook decides to
withdraw, he/she must notify a Hog Fest
representative immediately.
- The
Hog Fest in Historic Edenton committee
reserves the right to make additional rules and
regulations as the situation warrants. Decisions of
the committee are final.
